Hydrodata, in collaboration with SWS Consulting Engineering Srl of Rome and Newstech Vietnam Investment Construction and Trading Jsc of Hanoi, acquired in May 2017 a contract from the Government of Vietnam – Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) funded by the World Bank and aimed at the development of “Natural Disaster Risk Management Plans” for 8 river basins located in 10 coastal provinces of central Vietnam.

By adopting a basin-scale approach, the project updated the extreme event risk analysis and prepared suitable territorial management plans toidentify structural and non-structural measures to mitigate impacts, also considering scenarios of climate and socio-economic changes. Particular attention is currently devoted to the development of suitable procedures for the coordination and sharing of the general objectives of such prevention plans, at national and local level, through training activities for institutional representatives and raising awareness of stakeholders. The project will end in 2019.
